Giardini pubblici Indro Montanelli (Indro Montanelli Public Gardens), Milan

Giardini pubblici Indro Montanelli (Indro Montanelli Public Gardens), Milan

The Indro Montanelli Public Gardens is a magnificent oasis that offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Spanning over 170,000 square meters, the gardens stretch from the Venice Door to the streets of Palestro and Manin, providing an idyllic setting to unwind, soak in the scenery, and experience the local culture. As the first public park in Milan, the gardens are a testament to the renowned journalist and writer, Indro Montanelli, and are home to an ancient villa and museum, making them one of Milan's most coveted tourist attractions.

Designed by 18th-century architect Giuseppe Piermarini, the mastermind behind La Scala and Palazzo Reale, the gardens have been expanded over time and now feature amusing artificial rocks that add a touch of whimsy to the landscape. Emilio Alemagna's contributions to the park, including waterfalls and rocky outcrops, were a hit at the 1871 World Fair.

The park boasts a bar with outdoor seating and a charming miniature train for children, while the gardens on the other side of Via Palestro are exclusive to children accompanied by adults. With lush green grass everywhere, the park is a haven for kids, who also adore the Hoepli Planetarium and the Museum of Natural History. Daytime visits are perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic, while nighttime offers several music and art events to keep visitors entertained.

Why You Should Visit:
If you need a break from the bustling city, Indro Montanelli Public Gardens is the ideal place to unwind, even during the hottest days.
