NSU Art Museum, Fort Lauderdale

NSU Art Museum, Fort Lauderdale

The NSU Art Museum of Fort Lauderdale is an 83,000-square-foot space with a focus on contemporary art.

The museum was established in 1958. The building itself, opened in 1986, is nearly as interesting as the works inside. The modernist style is indicative of the time it was designed. Architect Edward Larabee Barnes left his signature style on the building. Likewise, the exterior features murals, a fountain, and an outdoor plaza that anyone can explore without entering the museum.

Inside the museum, visitors will find photography, paintings, prints, sculptures, and mixed media. The exhibitions on view are always changing and showcase many notable artists. Check out the incredible art you can see while on your self-guided tour at https://nsuartmuseum.org/exhibitions/currently-on-view/. Also featured is the Glackens Wing, which is a 2,000-square-foot gallery with over 500 works from William Glackens.

Additionally, NSU Art Museum offers special events such as exhibition opening receptions, art lectures, free admission on the first Thursday of every month with 2-for-1 wine and special kids art activities, adult art classes, and more.
