Angelino Heights Walk, Los Angeles

Angelino Heights Walk (Self Guided), Los Angeles

Angelino Heights is a small quarter within the Echo Park district, a charming and genteel neighborhood that is the second oldest in Los Angeles. It was developed in the late 19th century and sits on a hill a few miles west of the city center.

Among its most characteristic features are the Victorian-era homes, which present fascinating glimpses into a bygone age. Although more than 100 years old, many are still in excellent condition. However, some do require a lot of expensive renovation work.

The best places to see these beautiful old wooden homes are along Carroll Avenue and the two streets that are parallel to it. Admire the architecture of this historic area and take in the design detailing of some of the ornate homes. You will see several Victorian architectural styles, such as Eastlake and Queen Anne. Due to its special historical character, Angelino Heights has featured in many movies and commercials.

After your stroll through the streets of this hillside community, go over to the nearby Echo Park. This popular recreational space is a wonderful place to unwind, and features a walking path, picnic area and a lake. Rent a pedal boat for a trip across the water then relax under the shade of a tree.
