Downtown Shopping (Self Guided), Seattle

Downtown districts in any city are always great areas to go shopping and eat out, and Seattle’s Downtown is no exception to the rule. The expression “shop till you drop” derives from a famous Noel Coward play and in this lively district you might do just that! Here you will find over a thousand top retail stores and independent shops that are indigenous to the neighborhood. Whatever your price range, you will be sure to pick up a bargain. You can shop happily for hours in department stores and malls and uncover small treasures in antique shops.

Discover the delightful and sometimes quirky shops on historical Pioneer Square, which also boasts excellent art galleries. If you want to re-design your kitchen or finally do something with your basement, you will find both international and local interior architects on Westlake Center Plaza where you can pick up some good ideas.

While taking a break from your shopping spree, have a great cup of coffee in North America’s first Starbucks coffee shop or sample the cocktails and beers in the many bars and lounges scattered throughout the district. You will also find good restaurants for a leisurely lunch or you can buy pizza by the slice from any of the numerous pizza wagons.
