Oslo's west side is mostly known for its chic residential areas, fancy hotels and expensive restaurants. However there are plenty of interesting tourist attractions worth visiting as well. Don't hesitate to check out the famous Vigeland Sculpture Park, one of the most beautiful churches in Oslo, Frogner, or some of the small antique and gift shops on Bygdøy Alle.

Vigeland Sculpture Park
1) Vigeland Sculpture Park
Part of Frogner Park, Vigeland Sculpture Park is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Oslo. The park features 212 bronze and granite sculptures by Gustav Vigeland depicting people in various human activities such as running, dancing and hugging. This is also a popular picnic area and you can usually see locals relaxing and sunbathing.

The Oslo City Museum is a cultural museum with one of Norway's largest collections of paintings and photo collections documenting the history of Oslo and the former municipality Aker. There are guided tours in English on Saturdays and Sundays and a cafe where you can grab a bite to eat.

Vigeland Museum is a unique sculpture museum located in the former home of the famous Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. The building itself is a remarkable example of the neo-classical architectural style.

Frogner, considered one of Oslo's most beautiful churches, is located in a fashionable neighborhood with the same name. Once you are on Bygdøy Alle don't hesitate to check out this majestic architectural masterpiece built in the traditional Norwegian Normannic style.

Ibsen Museum displays a large collection of items related to playwright Henrik Ibsen. It is located close to the famous Royal Palace and separated into two areas: an exhibit featuring Ibsen's private works, photographs and other items, while the other part is a recreation of his former home.

The Norwegian Museum of Magic was established in 1997 and is dedicated to Norway’s most famous magicians. The museum hosts collections of photography, newspaper clips, posters and other memorabilia. If you happen to visit on a Sunday you can even see some great magic shows!
