War of Independence Museum
1) War of Independence Museum
Some of the most important documents and events archived about the Turkish War of Independence may be found at the War of Independence Museum. This location was opened to the public in 1920 with thousands of people present at the inauguration. The building is a one storey building planned by Salim Bey. The exhibits displayed are photos, artifacts and even wax figures.

Column of Julian
2) Column of Julian
The Column of Julian was erected in honor of Roman emperor Julian in 362 AD to commemorate his visit to Ankara. Local inhabitants call the column Belkıs Minaresi, which means "Queen of Sheba Column". Unfortunately, nobody knows the reason for calling it so.

Temple of Augustus and Rome
3) Temple of Augustus and Rome
The Temple of Augustus and Rome dates back to 20 BC and was built in the period of expansion of the Roman Empire and the establishment of the Roman province of Galatia with Ancyra (ancient name of Ankara) as its capital. The Temple has many inscriptions in Latin, such as the text of Res Gestae Divi Augusti and some Greek inscriptions on the exterior. Located now in the oldest part of the city, Ulus, it was rebuilt by the Romans in the 2nd century and represented at first an ancient Acropolis. It was later rebuilt by the Byzantines as a church.

4) The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations
The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is located in the historic part of the city which is called Ulus. The Museum represents one of the most important historic and cultural edifices in the country, therefore everyone who wants to know the country’s history should visit this place. The Museum was last rebuilt in 1968 and today represents one of the most impressive collections of historic artifacts in the world.

5) State Art & Sculpture Museum
The State Art and Sculpture Museum is situated on Talat Paşa Boulevard in the Ulus region. The building has been housing impressive collections of Turkish art since the 19th century, combining them, sometimes, with various foreign exhibitions. The location is perfect for art lovers, especially for those who like traditional Turkish handicrafts.
