Green Salon (Grüner Salon)
3) Green Salon (Grüner Salon)
Created as a venue for intellectual encounter in the 19th century, the Salon owes its appearance to the emerging educated middle class who needed a place to have fun. Badly damaged during WWII, the Salon was rebuilt after the war. The venue comprises two lounge-bars, each styled separately in red and green colors, imitating traffic lights. For a long time these bars have been frequented by lovers of wild parties. Roter Salon is famous for its Electrolounge and Rock nights, and literary events. Its green counterpart—the Grüne Salon—is one of the top dance floors for salsa, tango, and swing. Its parties are preceded by short dance workshops. The Salon is also known for hosting the weekly TV talk shows featuring celebrities and politicians, much as for the 1970s, 80s, and 90s music parties, and chanson concerts.

Dice Club
4) Dice Club
Housed in a former electricity station on Voltairestraße, fresh from the recent face-lift, Dice Club is one of Berlin’s hottest clubbing spots. Surprisingly enough, despite having all the habitual features of a ravers’ hangout—commodious space of an abandoned power station, superb sound system, post-industrial décor—Dice is rather slick and civilized. In part, this is probably due to the plush interiors or the fab roof terrace, but by all means not because of a weak music score—the place is run by a group of music business veterans with a pertinent program to indicate that. Predominantly oriented toward straight and young public, the club is also open to a gay audience – the sign of which is the recently opened "dark" room. Dice Club is the smoothest possible entrance into the club scene of Berlin, with lots of chill out zones and a grand terrace.

Operation Hours:
Fri 24 - 07. Sat 24 - late.

Luzia
5) Luzia
Situated on Kreuzberg´s rugged Oranienstraße Boulevard, this bar and café is the latest addition to the area's hip scene. It is also one of its most tonied and popular venues, which is evident in the crowd of patrons parking regularly at the outside tables. The industrial loft interior, "warmed up" by exposed brickwork, velvet armchairs, pieces of baroque wallpaper and a cute little space upstairs accessible only by ladder, creates the mood of refined sexiness. The choice of drinks and cocktails is quite standard and the prices are fair. The place's main drag, however, is in the gilded mirrors and wall paintings created by street artist Chin Chin of Redspective.

Operation Hours:
Daily, 10:00 am - 3:00 am.
