Aker Brygge
1) Aker Brygge
Start your tour in Oslo’s famous area, Aker Brygge. Aker Eiendom AS oversaw its construction in four steps, the first of which was completed in 1986 and the final stage in 1998. The area consists of shops, restaurants, office space, a cinema and a small harbor and is certainly worth checking out.

National Theater (Nationaltheatret)
2) National Theater (Nationaltheatret)
Nationaltheatret was founded in 1829 and is Norway's largest venue for dramatic arts performances. The theater has four stages: the main stage, the amphitheater, the Painting Parlor within the main structure, and the Torshov Theater in the Torshov district. There is also a cafe and provisions for guests who are hearing impaired.

National Gallery
3) National Gallery
The National Gallery is Norway’s national museum of art, established in 1842. The museum contains a stunning collection of pre-war art. Many of Norway's most famous paintings are on permanent display here. There is also a section of the museum devoted to French painters.

Stortinget
4) Stortinget
Stortinget is the Norwegian Parliament, the highest legislative branch in the country. The building was constructed between 1861 and 1866 under the direction of Swedish architect, Emil V. Langlet. Guided tours are available in Norwegian, English, German and French and admission is free.

Stortorvet
5) Stortorvet
Stortorvet is a square located in the center of Oslo. It was officially inaugurated as the town's market square in 1736. The square is situated immediately in front of Oslo Cathedral. On the square stands a statue of King Christian IV, by the sculptor by CL Jacobsen.

Akershus Slott
6) Akershus Slott
Akershus Fortress was built in 1290 in order to protect Oslo from invaders. The fortress has also been used as a prison. In the early 17th century, it was modernized and remodeled and given the appearance of a renaissance castle. Here you can see the royal mausoleum where King Haakon VII and Olav V are buried together with Queen Maud and Märtha.

Forsvarsmuseet
7) Forsvarsmuseet
Forsvarsmuseet (Armed Forces Museum) was opened to the public in 1978. The permanent exhibitions concentrate on the major themes of Norway’s military history, especially World War II. There is also a small cafe located near the entrance.

Oslo Opera House
8) Oslo Opera House
The Oslo Opera House, opened in 2008, is a part of The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. The building is situated in Bjørvika, in the center of Oslo. It was constructed by Statsbygg and designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta. It contains two theaters, the main auditorium holding 1,364 seats with a stage 16 meters wide.
