Städel Art Museum
1) Städel Art Museum
The first museum to open on the banks of the River Main, the Stadel Museum has a vast collection of masterpieces spanning 7 centuries. Paintings featured at the galleries include works of well known artists from the 14th century to the present. The Stadel Institute is devoted to teaching and encouraging local artists. The Stadel Art Museum was established in 1816 by prominent Frankfurt banker Johann Friedrich Stadel to house his vast collection of art. Stadel donated the collection and his house to the city. In 1878 a new large building in the German Grunderzeit style was constructed by architect Oskar Sommer as a repository for the subsequent art collections acquired by the museum. The collection of art at the museum includes, Flemish primitives, Impressionists, Post Modernists, works of the 17th and 18th century Dutch and German masters, 19th century romanticist French and German paintings and works form later art movements like cubism, impressionism and expressionism. Modern pieces include the works of Bacon, Dubuffet and Yves Klein. Treasures at the gallery include Goethe in the Italian countryside by Tischbein, The Geographer by Johannes Vermeer and the Lucca Madonna by Jan van Eyck. The building also has a large library with a range of art books and periodicals. Visitors can take a short guided tour around the paintings and artwork on display. The museum stays open Tuesdays through Sundays and children under 12 are admitted free.

The Poller Gallery features work from young artists who have already achieved a distinguished position in the world of photography. The gallery offers support for collectors who desire to expand their collection of contemporary art. Poller Gallery only showcases contemporary photography since 2002.

The Gallery Wilma Tolksdorf rotates exhibitions with innovative art from young artists located in Europe and the United States of America. Visitors may check out the gallery from either Frankfurt or Berlin. Every month a new exhibition is presented.
Schirn Art Gallery
5) Schirn Art Gallery
One of the world’s most famous venues for exhibiting art work, the Schirn art gallery in Frankfurt opened its doors in 1986. The exhibition space lies next to the Frankfurt Cathedral and the Romerberg Plaza and has constantly changing shows of contemporary art.
Schirn in German means an open air stall. The venue had stalls selling a range of products until the 19th century. The area suffered damage in World War II and remained undeveloped till the opening of the Schirn art gallery. The hall overlooks a carefully preserved Roman ruin that has a unique ancient central heating system called Hypocaust. The building was designed and constructed by the architectural firm Bangert, Jansen, Scholz and Schultes. The gallery has over 2000 square meters of exhibition space.
Since 1986, the art gallery has hosted over 180 exhibitions. Some well known programs were Viennese Art Nouveau exhibitions, Expressionism, Dadism, Surrealism, the History of Photography, the Art of the Stalin Era and New Romanticism. Works featured at the hall include those of great masters like Frida Kahlo, Vassily Kandinsly, Bill Viola and Arnold Schonberg.
Guided tours are available, beginning at the foyer of Schirn art gallery including special children’s tours and foreign language tours. The exhibition hall also has an award winning café serving dishes made of organic local produce.

DavisKlemm constantly changes their exhibitions to ensure the freshest experience possible. Artists with work at DavisKlemm, also display their pieces in the U.S. and Asia. Their work is incredibly popular in South Korea.
Synart Gallery
7) Synart Gallery
In 2001, Synart Gallery was first an art advisory service, and became an art gallery a year later. The gallery features approximately 40 exhibitions a year. They have also participated in numerous national and international fairs. Finnish art, particularly in photography, is the major exhibit at Synart.
