1) Marlena's Bar
Marlena's is a small intimate bar that serves a wide selection of beer and wine. It is particularly famous for inexpensive drinks and various theme nights. The weekly drag shows here feature some of the brightest talents in the bay area. As an extra bonus, there is a pool table, a smoking room, and a fabulous jukebox available. Hours: daily from 12 pm to 2 am.

2) Pilsner Inn Bar
The Pilsner Inn is one of the last authentic Castro establishments. It is a huge bar, with an interior that features green tiles on the ceiling and red ones on the floor, a mural of penguins painted above the bar, sports trophies and other city's memorabilia decorate the walls. The bar is famous for the smoking patio, with its large garden and shadowy nooks. Hours: Monday-Friday 12pm-2am, Saturday and Sunday 10am-2am.

3) Café Nightclub
Located in the heart of the Castro, the Café is considered the best gay club in the city. The place features three bars, a massive dance floor, a state-of-the art sound system, high tech lighting, a ten foot screen, a patio and a second story veranda. The Café is open Monday-Friday from 5pm to 2am, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 2am.

4) 440 Castro Bar
440 Castro Bar, formerly known as Daddy's, is a popular gay bar in San Francisco. It features a downstairs bar, an outdoor patio and private rooms. The bar is famous for the various theme nights, like Friday's Black Hanky night or Monday's underwear party. The bar is open daily from noon to 2am.

5) SF Badlands Dance Club
SF Badlands is one of the most popular dance clubs in San Francisco. It is a place for video music entertainment and dancing. The club has an ultra-modern dance floor surrounded by TVs. The interior of the club presents exposed brick and flower arrangements, and a traditional rotating mirror ball in the middle of the dance floor. The service is very quick and friendly. Hours: daily from 2pm to 2am.

6) Midnight Sun
The Midnight Sun opened in 1971 in the heart of San Francisco's Castro district. It is world renowned as a pioneer video bar. It features an amazing Art Deco style interior, two huge screens on either side of a rectangular room, several smaller TVs behind the bar, and tall tables. Hours: Monday-Friday from 2pm to 2am, Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 2am.
