The city of San Jose is very tolerant towards the gay community, taking into consideration that Costa Rica is such a conservative Catholic country. Deja Vu
1) Deja Vu
Déjà Vu represents a stylish gay night club in San Jose. Located just a few blocks away from downtown San Jose, it boasts of a large gay and lesbian clientele. It features three dance floors with plenty of strobe-lights. The entertainment is provided by experienced DJs who mix house, salsa and techno tunes.

The Club OH is the largest gay discotheque in San Jose. The club owners proudly present different live shows and competitions throughout the week. The Club offers an open bar for everyone, and a comfortable VIP lounge area, called ‘Marcando’. They have a very friendly and efficient staff.

La Margot is a comfortable bar that will always guarantee a lively and a memorable night in San Jose. It is popular with both the gay and lesbian communities. This place is amazing; it is where you can have a great time and listen to some great music.
El Montecarlo

The El Montecarlo Night Club is an upscale gay venue in San Jose. The place attracts a regular crowd, which is entertained by shows ranging from strip nights to great dancing acts. The music goes from classic funky dance on week nights to progressive house over the weekends.

The Cantabrico is another gay bar from San Jose that you are going to love. The place has a decent interior design, affordable drinks, mouth-watering refreshments and the friendliest staff around. Check out the karaoke and the live music nights. It is almost impossible to find any fault with this slick and stylish venue.

La Avispa
6) La Avispa
The La Avispa (The Wasp) is the best known and oldest gay and lesbian dance club in San Jose. Its history dates back to 1978, and the La Avispas’s owner, has been an activist in the gay movement ever since. The Club features a chic decorated bi-level space with an energizing dance floor and a cool surround sound system. The Wasp is considered to be one of the liveliest and most enjoyable gay discos in San Jose.

Puchos Night Club
7) Puchos Night Club
The Puchos Night Club has been serving the gay and lesbian community for more then ten years. The Puchos organize a variety of shows and activities, certain to satisfy even the wildest of tastes. This venue plays host to local and touring DJs that play Hip-hop, R&B, House and Electro and you'll find it hard not to dance to the tunes that pulsate from the DJ booth.

El Bochinche
8) El Bochinche
El Bochinche is a cosy and relaxing gay bar in the district of Barrio La Soledad in San Jose. The place has an enviable reputation for providing friendly service and value for money. The Bar is open daily and provides San Jose’s gay community with a selection of beers, wines and cocktails.
