1) Rich's Houston
Rich's Houston is a very popular dance club. It used to be an exclusively gay nightclub, but is now visited by many straight people too. The club is divided into many dance rooms, each one with an outstanding DJ. The music played here is a mix of house and hip-hop.

2) Meteor Lounge
The Meteor is a trendy upscale lounge with a very hip atmosphere. It offers lots of seating, video screens, great music, and amazing drinks (including a half-price happy hour). The entertainment sometimes includes go-go boys or strippers. The lounge also has a patio where you can escape from the music and noise or just chill with friends.

3) Ripcord
Ripcord is a very popular gay leather bar that also houses a leather shop. It offers great music and a wide variety of reasonably priced drinks, and is open after-hours until 4 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Ripcord also organizes many special events and evenings. The place opened more than twenty years ago and is still very popular.

4) Montrose Mining Company
Montrose Mining Company is a nightclub that is very popular with the leather and Levi’s crowd. The bar is dark and a bit "divey," but that is part of the fun. They offer a happy hour, low priced drink specials, and dancers on Fridays and Saturdays. They have an amazing dance floor and a very pleasant patio.

5) Mary's Lounge
Mary's Lounge is a well-loved gay bar, with great music, a pool table, some video games, and darts, and a friendly, casual atmosphere. It claims to be the oldest gay bar in Houston. The décor is local and "divey," with "spicy" murals and window paintings and the patrons wouldn't have it any other way. Mary's Lounge also has a great back yard that you wouldn't expect in this urban setting.

6) EJ's Bar
EJ's is a gay bar and dance club that draws a multicultural crowd. The music includes the 1980s' pop, new wave, electronica, and techno, and the entertainment sometimes includes amateur strip contests. The bar also features a pool table and a very pleasant patio.

7) Decades Bar
Decades is a small, friendly neighborhood bar that attracts an older professional crowd. It offers two pool tables, shuffle board and a jukebox, and sometimes hosts darts and pool tournaments or karaoke. Not a "hotspot," but a pleasant place for drinks and conversation with friends.
