Over four hundred jars filled with candy are waiting for you and your children on the shelves, just in one place – The British Lolly Shop. There are free samples, so it makes it easier to choose amongst the large variety offered by the shop. The first of its kind was opened in Australia in 2002, and the business was very successful. There was a huge demand for the products, so a shop in Cairns was also opened. The Store is located at the Pier, so it's a must-see for the true candy connoisseur.

Wildlife Dome
3) Wildlife Dome
The Wildlife Dome opened to visitors in 2003, and today it offers a memorable wildlife experience. Birds, crocodiles, koalas, lizards, turtles, snakes and many other animals live peacefully on the roof of the Cairns Reef Hotel Casino, where the Dome is located. It's made up of 3000 plants, 120 tons of earth and around 50,000 gallons of water. It's a pocket zoo in the heart of the city, where you can bring your children..

Well-trained and skilled videographers work seven days a week, 365 days a year, to capture the most impressive rain-forest and reef scenery, and showcase these treasures for all to see. The Calypso team tries to provide general interest information about the Great Barrier Reef, which is off the coast of Northeastern Australia.

Cairns Civic Theatre
6) Cairns Civic Theatre
In 1974, when Cairns had a population of 33000 inhabitants, The Cairns Civic Theatre was opened. It was the first theater in Queensland, designed and purpose-built for entertaining the locals. Cairns architects were involved in the building project worth up to $1.1 million. Today, the theater provides a modern interior and equipment. There are programs for children, teenagers and parents. At some shows babies in arms are permitted; kids over the age of 1 year must be bought a ticket to children's show. There is no smoking permitted in the theater. All are welcome.

Muddy's Playground

This is a special playground that attracts both children and parents. Muddy’s Playground, located on the Esplanade, is famous amongst tourists and locals alike. It offers a number of play areas for children of all ages and abilities. The playground is surrounded by trees, so there's lots of shade where parents can relax and watch over their kids.

Located on the Esplanade, right in the heart of tropical Cairns, the Cairns Skate Park is the most awesome skate park in Australia. It features a number of bowls of different dimensions, which make it attractive to users. There are long runs with stairs and gaps, and the landscape design is astonishing. You can skate at night because the park is well-lit. Children will love this skateboard park.
