Just next to the steps leading up to the Old Winter Palace, you’ll find this superb store. The Winter Akhmeem Gallery sells wonderful silk, cotton and linen from Akhmim, all at much lower prices than elsewhere in the world. 2) Gaddis Bookshop
The AA Gaddis Bookshop is the best place in town to find a guidebook on the area. The store also has a wide collection of various maps and beautiful souvenirs. Open daily, from morning until late evening.

3) Aboudy Bookshop
This bookstore is a great place to go to pick up something to read during your holiday, or a special interest book to take home. Aboudy Bookshop has everything, from ancient Egyptian books to English novels to local cookery books. Look out for the great children’s books section, as well as beautiful postcards.

4) Fair Trade Centre Luxor Outlet
The Fair Trade Centre Luxor Outlet is a wonderful non-profit store in Sharia al-Karnak that sells all kinds of handicrafts. Here you can find hand-carved pottery and wood, made in villages of Garagos and Hejaza; recycled paper and glass from Cairo; aromatic oils from Quz; and many other interesting souvenirs and presents.

5) Habiba Gallery
The Habiba store promotes Egyptian art and culture – you may be surprised to see that its owner is Australian. Here you can find wonderful Egyptian leather work, pure cotton, handicrafts and many other interesting and unique objects. For example, there is a a wide range of jewelry and shoulder bags sewn by local women.

6) Twinkies
The Twinkies store is a true treat for kids of all ages. Customers simply pick a tray and get it filled with any kind of sweets and candy they like. After you receive a ticket and pay, you can feast on the sweets as you continue your shopping trip.
