Los Angeles movie studios are truly star factories, where many great movies are filmed. There are many movie studios in Los Angeles. Some of them, such as Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks, are very famous, while others, like Raleigh and Ren-Mar are obscure. Sunset Gower Studios
1) Sunset Gower Studios
Established in 1921, Sunset Gower Studios used to be Columbia Pictures Studio. It is still the largest independent studio in Hollywood and serves as a facility for big movie productions. The studio is home to the famous "It Happened One Night," filmed in 1934. Nowadays Sunset-Gower Studios produces famous TV shows such as "Hannah Montana."

Mirror Films
2) Mirror Films
Although Mirror Films is not as renowned as many other movie studios, they specialize in creating the best quality work. This production house is home to many award-winning works in different fields, including television, commercials and music videos.

Raleigh Studios
3) Raleigh Studios
Raleigh Studios is perhaps not as famous as Paramount Pictures or Warner Brothers, but it is one of the oldest studios in Los Angeles. Opened in 1915, the studio has had several names, including Clune Studios, California Studio and Producers Studios. Many Oscar-winning films were filmed here, among them are "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane," "In the Heat of the Night" and "The Best Years of Our Lives.”

Paramount Studios
4) Paramount Studios
Paramount Studios was established in 1913 and located near Sunset and Vine at the time. In 1926 the studio moved to its current location. Today Paramount Pictures is the only major movie studio remaining in Hollywood. Paramount's stars include such big celebrities as Marlene Dietrich, Clara Bow, Gary Cooper and many others.

Red Studios Hollywood
5) Red Studios Hollywood
Red Studios Hollywood is a relatively new name in the cinema industry. In 2010 Red Digital Cinema Camera Company purchased Ren-Mar Studios, a studio acknowledged for its shows such as “Seinfeld”, “Allie McBeal”, “Wedding Crashers” etc., and thus Red Studios Hollywood was born. Following the success of Ren-Mar, but in a much more improved manner, Red Studios is currently producing two of the most successful movie series of today, “ Weeds” and “True Blood”.

Hollywood Center Studios
6) Hollywood Center Studios
Originally built in 1919, Hollywood Center Studios rents out its twelve wonderful stages to different movie and television production companies. A lot of famous games shows were filmed here. The studio has a long and captivating history. In 1928 Howard Hughes shot the legendary film "Hell's Angels" here. The early seasons of "I Love Lucy" were also filmed here.

The Lot
7) The Lot
This studio opened in 1920, when Hampton Studios moved to The Lot's current location on North Formosa Avenue. The Lot has had many names, among which were Warner Hollywood Studios and United Artists Studios. Recently the second season of "True Blood" was filmed here. Some famous films such as “Basic Instinct,” “First Daughter” and episodes of "The Majestic" were filmed here as well.
