Railway Museum
1) Railway Museum
Today Railway Museum is a part of the National Museum. It is situated not far from the Railway Station. The museum was opened in 1971. It will inform you about the history of the country’s railway network. You will find locomotives built in the first half of the 20th century on display. You can also see some other interesting engines, a wonderful collection of old photos and other artifacts. Two locomotives are still working and you can easily be admitted to go on an excursion on one of them.

Parliament
2) Parliament
Parliament is a very attractive building both for local people and for tourists. There is a clock tower adjoining it. It was built in the 1940s, when Kenya was still a British colony. Here you can learn about Kenya’s political life. You can take a tour of its archives and look through the official documents, agreements and orders. If you want to see how Parliament works, you can be present during one of its open sessions and watch from the visitors' gallery. But bear in mind that applause is forbidden.

National Archives
3) National Archives
This is a "must see" place situated in the heart of the city. The museum is dedicated to the history and culture of Nairobi and Kenya of pre-colonial, colonial and modern periods. Here you can find displayed paintings and sculptures from these periods, queer and fascinating traditional masks made of wood and stone and used during African celebrations, very beautiful African handmade jewelry, tribal weapons and a lot of photographs reflecting the history of Nairobi and Kenya.

Zanzibar Curio Shop
4) Zanzibar Curio Shop
It is the oldest curiosity shop in the city. The shop offers a great choice of local crafts. Africans have a very rich culture and are skilled craftsmen. You can find beautiful local clothes, wickers, soapstone figurines, local semi-precious stones, hand-made beads and many other nice things. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Zanzibar Curio Shop is one the best places in the city with original artifacts, exclusive gifts and curiosities.

5) Nairobi National Museum
The National Museum was established in 1910. Its goal is to preserve the historical, cultural and natural wealth of the country. The museum is divided into different sectors: Zoology, Botany, Earth Sciences, Culture. Here you become aware of the lifestyle of African tribes, their traditions and their art. There is a large collection of stuffed and mounted specimens of African fauna presented. Native art is represented by paintings and sculptures. Kenya's heritage is vast and admirable.

Snake Park
6) Snake Park
This is a special place dedicated to cold-blooded reptiles. It was established in the late 1950s. The place is popular among local people, tourists, professional scientists and young naturalists. Besides a great number of snakes and the African rock python that is found only in this country, here you will meet face to face (don’t be afraid of these words) with alligators, crocodiles, lizards and also fish and turtles.

Nairobi Arboretum
7) Nairobi Arboretum
Nairobi Arboretum is a charming green space situated not far from the center of the city. It was founded in the beginning of the 20th century and in 1932 it was declared a National Reserve. More than three hundred species of plants and a hundred species of birds occupy this territory of 30 hectares. Here you will also meet monkeys and big colonies of wonderful tropical butterflies. This is a calm place where you can fill your lungs with the delicate fragrance of nature and admire its originality.
