The Naka Ward (or Naka-ku) district is the central neighborhood of Nagoya. This area should be at the top of the list for any visitor to the city, because it’s home to a vast number of amazing attractions. Here you can visit: a peaceful Japanese park; a fine Nagoya Orchid Garden; a gorgeous Osu Kannon Temple; and the imposing Nagoya TV Tower. 1) Nagoya TV Tower
If you’ve been to Paris, chances are you’ll get a sense of dja vu when visiting the Nagoya TV Tower because of its striking resemblance to the Eiffel Tower. You may also recognize the tower from the 1992 movie “Godzilla vs Mothra”, in which the tower is destroyed in the midst of a mythical battle. Completed in 1954, it’s also the oldest tower of its kind in Japan. Measuring a total of 180 meters high, it’s got two observation decks for visitors at 90 and 100 meters. There’s also a restaurant and gallery inside.

2) Hisaya Odori Park
The Hisaya Odori Park is a wonderful park located right in the center of the city. Here you can walk in the green fields and admire the many tall trees, with the TV Tower providing a dramatic backdrop. You can also take a shopping trip to the underground mall and department stores located nearby.

3) Nagoya Orchid Garden
The Nagoya Orchid Garden, also known as the Ran no Yakata Orchid Garden, is conveniently located just a short walk from Nagoya Yaba-cho Station. Opened in 1998, the garden is a wonderful place to come and see more than 250 different species of orchids and other plants.

4) Bansho-ji Temple
The Bansho-ji Temple is a beautiful house of worship built by Bansho-ji in the 16th Century. Situated in the Osu district, inside this temple you can see a unique puppet show featuring mechanized Japanese samurai dolls.
5) Osu Angel Statue
Nestled within the Naka ward you’ll find this beautiful tiny park. Inside there’s a magnificent round fountain with a statue of an angel at its center. Known as the Osu Angel Statue, this sculpture stands tall as if to watch over the city and its inhabitants.
6) Osu Kannon Temple
The central Osu Kannon Temple is a magnificent temple that is also one of Nagoya’s most striking attractions. Many visitors are impressed by its gorgeous, colorful architecture. Belonging to the Shingon-Buddhism sect, it dates from the Kamakura era (1192-1333).

7) Shirakawa Park
The Shirakawa Park, situated in central Nagoya, is the site of several of the city’s most important attractions. Both the Nagoya City Science Museum and the Nagoya City Art Museum are here, as well as a beautiful fountain and wonderful flowers and trees.
