1) Ark Live House
Ark Live House is a popular live music scene in Shanghai. This venue has featured a number of Chinese rock bands since 2004. The interior is casually decorated to provide a relaxed and chill atmosphere and features a great bar and comfortable balcony seating. Concerts are usually held on Friday and Saturday nights.

2) Party World
If you are a Karaoke-lover, this is the place for you. Very popular among locals and always crowded on weekends, Party World opened 3 branches in central Shanghai to offer a Karaoke experience to all music lovers. One of its most popular branches stands near Fuxing Park. To find it, just walk along Yandang Road and look for the huge Party World sign.

3) California Club
One of the classiest clubs of the city, California Club is definitely a hot spot of Shanghai's nightlife. The lounge interior dazzles with sparkling red walls and a small but stylish dance floor. House and progressive music are played every night and the club stays open until the early morning hours on weekends.

4) Guandii
Another hot-spot of Shanghai that is popular among young adults is Guandii. Offering a wide range of drinks and awesome hip-hop beats, this place tends to gather large crowds that stay until the club closes well into the late night. It is highly frequented by wealthy locals and visitors from all over China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

5) PinkHome
PinkHome is one of the most-frequented gay venues of Shanghai. It is a huge night spot, where visitors can enjoy the lounge area, the small restaurant or dance all night on the dance floor. The interior features modern decor, neon lights and a fun, youthful ambiance.

6) YY's
YY's (from the Ying and Yang symbol) has been a well-known hang-out spot in Shanghai for many years. With a similar appearance to many other traditional nightlife spots in Shanghai, this club has gradually become less frequented, but has still retained its regular visitors. The club incorporates a bar and a disco area that usually plays techno music.
7) Face Bar
Face Bar is another relaxing place located within the French Concession area of Shanghai. It is a fancy bar that features a cozy terrace and eastern style decorations. It attracts both a foreign and local clientele and is one of the most popular spots to have a drink. It is the place to see and be seen in Shanghai.
