1) Plaza Vieja
Plaza Vieja, or Old Square, is one of the most famous places in Old Town. It was founded in 1519. Plaza Vieja use to play an important role in Havana's life. It was the site where bandits were executed, and the site of corridas and fiestas. A lot of local cafes can be found here.

2) Lonja Del Comercio
Converted from a commodity market, the Lonja Del Comercio was finished in the early 20th century and entirely renovated at the end of the century. The initial box-shaped footprint of the building was later improved and this made the building better able to host offices of international conglomerates. It is decorated with contemporary art which draws crowds into the fancy cafe and restaurant.

3) Palacio de Los Capitanes Generales
Palacio de Los Capitanes Generales used to be the residence of the governor. The building is a great example of colonial art. It is located at the South side of the Plaza Mayor. Today, Palacio serves as the City Museum.

4) Castillo de la Real Fuerza
Castillo de la Real Fuerza is a fortress. It was built in a European style. The fortress is located near the harbor in Havana and it was completed in 1577. The Castle of the Royal Force is one of the oldest fortresses in the Americas.

5) Cathedral of Havana
The Cathedral of Havana is an example of Baroque architecture in Havana. The construction of the cathedral was completed in 1777. The Cathedral is situated in the central square of Havana. It's one of the most beautiful places in the city.

6) Mercado (Rastro)
This small handicraft market is located near cathedral square. You will find almost anything you want here. It's the perfect place to buy some real Cuban cigars or coffee. Besides those items, you will find a huge variety of souvenirs here.

7) Statue of Maximo Gomez
The statue is located in the northern part of old city. Maximo Gomez was Cuba's military commander during the War of Independence (1895-1898). Maximo Gomez is considered to be a national hero of Cuba. Behind the statue, you'll find a door. It might sound unusual, but an old man lives in the statue. He can tell you a lot of stories about Cuban battles.
