Debenhams
4) Debenhams
Perhaps the best organised of all department stores in London in terms of practical shopping, Debenhams Oxford Street gives priority to substance over style. The store offers an enormous range of branded as well as own-brand fashion wear, accessories and home products for the entire family, exclusively designed by internationally renowned names and at affordable prices. There is an opulent selection of the latest cosmetics and beauty rooms from the world's top houses. Also, for a greater shopping experience there are three in-store restaurants and cafés.

House of Fraser
5) House of Fraser
Following the change of ownership in 2006, the House of Fraser has undergone a major reshuffle. The chain's flagship store in Oxford Street is now eyeing to take over the lofty neighbours John Lewis and Selfridge's as the ruling department store. The advance has yet to materialize, but the House of Fraser already has a better than ever range of designs. The main emphasis remains on clothes and beauty, whilst the homeware section has expanded as well.

John Lewis
6) John Lewis
In business for almost 150 years, John Lewis Oxford Street might probably lack the glitz of its brother department store in Knightsbridge, but it does stand tall in terms of goods quality and excellence of service. Spread over seven floors with 20 departments selling fashion, fabrics, kitchens, electrical appliances, toiletries and toys, it offers comprehensive shopping experience where everything, from the tiny little bit to the whole shebang, is available. The staff are extremely knowledgeable of their products and, most notably, their attention doesn't wane even after you've bought something. In addition to that, the store offers free delivery to most areas of London.
