For more than 100 years, enthusiastic shoppers have been turning up to the Loop, bright-eyed and eager to snare some bargains and purchase high quality clothes and other items. This is Chicago's central business district and also the second largest commercial district in the United States. Head for State Street in the heart of the city, known as Chicago's first "Main Street". Among the stores you will find here are the legendary Macy's, Old Navy and H&M. Such is State Street's fame that it even gets a namecheck in the song Chicago, sung by Frank Sinatra. Whether you want designer labels at bargain prices, mainstream fashions or inventive new looks, you should be able to find it on State Street. Also within the Loop district is Wabash Avenue, which is known locally as Historic Jewelers Row. This is the Midwest's largest jewelry district and features more than 200 designers, manufacturers and dealers. Here you can buy customized engagement, wedding and diamond rings and many other exquisite and precious jeweled items. If jewelry isn’t on your shopping list, still come so that you can marvel at the gorgeous windows displays. For those who love to shop, a visit to the Loop is like stepping into a retail paradise full of dazzling choices.
