't Velootje
4) 't Velootje
't Velootje is a former bike workshop turned bar that sits in a tiny dimly lit garage behind the heavy, unmarked door. In business for about 25 years, this joint is run by excentric proprietor Lieven De Vos. The inner space is somewhat cluttered and indulges in kerosene lamps hanging overhead, so visitors must take extra care not to whack their heads or send themselves flying over a pile of old bikes as they try to make way toward a table. The choice of beer rests with the owner, who brings whatever he deems appropriate. The working hours start "whenever he feels like it" and end some time after 9pm.

Here you can find local beers like Guillotine (9.3% alcohol), Delirium Tremens (9.5% alcohol), and the strongest beer in Gent - Piraat (10.5% alcohol). Many other beers are also available. In fact, the list of beer is so long that it will take you some time to read it.
