1) Temmerman
Gent residents are known for making a delicious variety of sweets and cookies. Temmerman is an old-fashioned, family-owned sweet shop that is currently run by the 8th generation. They sell confections, sweets and biscuits. This shop has been located here since 1904 and all the sweets sold here are prepared at the family's factory. The famous Belgian neuzekes, which are hard, triangular, cherry-red 'noses' with jelly inside, as well as mokke, or aniseed biscuits, are also made by this family.

The Fallen Angels
2) The Fallen Angels
The Fallen Angels is the perfect shop for those who adore nostalgic items. In this antique shop, you can buy old postcards, devotion cards, toys, dolls, tin cookie jars, etc. Next door you will find The Fallen Angels Gallery where you can buy many original collectors' items. These two neighboring shops are owned by a mother and her daughter.

Great Butcher's Hall is a historic site that is used today as the Center for the Promotion of the Regional Products of East Flanders. Here you will find many Belgian specialties, like chocolates, local beer and other tasty delights. The best souvenirs in Belgium are also sold here. At Butcher's Hall you can buy statuettes of kings, Charles V for example, as well as a variety of objects and gadgets imprinted with images of Gent and its most famous historic sites.

Tierenteyn-Verlent is a shop that sells Gent's traditional mustard made according to the original recipe from 1790. It is a specialty store that sells only this mustard. The shop itself is a heritage site in Gent that has retained its original design. It was built as a tall glass cabinet. The staff will fill special jars with mustard for you and give you a wooden spoon to eat this delicious, natural product.
