Petone is the landing point of the first settlers to New Zealand. The distance from Petone to Wellington is about 10 km. The road leading there lies along the bay, offering splendid views. 2) Petone Settlers Museum
Petone Settlers Museum focuses on the migration to the Wellington region, including Hutt Valley. The museum represents an architectural gem and is dedicated to the first organized European settlers in New Zealand. It also hosts exhibitions that display the results of multicultural influence on the development of New Zealand.

Petone Beach is a safe for swimming beach. It is set on the northern shores of Wellington's beautiful harbor and offers amazing views of the sea and the city. Petone is a Māori word which means "end of the sand beach". There are some landmarks along the beach, such as a cross with historic inscriptions on it. People like walking along the beach from where one can see such rare scenes as whales swimming in the sea. There are also rare sea birds on the beach.

Multicultural St. David’s Presbyterian Church

St. David’s Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest churches in Petone. It has been renovated recently and looks very good. What makes this church special is that it is a multicultural church. All the settlers from the South Pacific islands, that now live in Petone, can attend it. It is a richly decorated wooden church.

The churches in Petone are not big, but they tell you a lot about the culture and history of this region. St Augustine’s Church is an Anglican church in Petone that is a much cherished place for weddings. It is definitely worth seeing this beautiful wooden church and its decorations.
