Arcadas de São Francisco (San Francisco Arcades), Funchal

San Francisco Arcades (Arcadas São Francisco), situated near the Vicentes Photography Museum and Municipal Garden of Funchal, is more than just a shopping center. Inaugurated in 1995, San Francisco Arcades were built in a space that dates back to 1811, following public policies that aimed to value the city's historical testimonies. This commercial area is part of a building that was adjacent to the former convent of San Francisco. Acquired by Charles Ridpath Blandy in 1840, the building was later transformed into a wine cellar.
