Architect Viktor Kovačić's Apartment Museum, Zagreb

The Viktor Kovačić Apartment Museum in Zagreb offers a unique look into the past. It showcases the way people lived in the early 1900s and highlights the life of Viktor Kovačić, a famous Croatian architect who designed important buildings like the National Bank and Saint Blaise Church. The museum, set up in Kovačić's old apartment, has been kept the same as it was, giving a real feel of that time.

After Kovačić died, his wife gave their apartment to the public. The Zagreb City Museum managed it from 1980 and opened it to visitors in 1994. This allows people to see what life was like back then.

The museum is in a building in the center of Zagreb, which Kovačić designed in 1906. He lived in the top floor flat, and it perfectly shows the style and practicality of that era. There are three rooms, each with its own story. Kovačić used mirrors smartly in the apartment to make it seem bigger.

Inside, you'll find 19th-century furniture and 18th-century religious art, giving a good idea of the artistic and cultural values of the time. The wallpaper, furniture, and household items all add to the museum's authentic feel.

The museum extends beyond the rooms, up the stairs, and into the attic, giving a full view of Zagreb's interior design before World War I. It's only open on Thursdays, which makes visiting it more special.
