Cementario San Pedro, Managua

Cementario San Pedro was the city's first cemetery. In 1865 under the authorization of mayor Carlos Aragos started to build the cemetery with name of San Pedro. During its construction it was decided that a chapel should be built in front of the cemetery. In 1886 the cemetery was finished, and in 1887 the chapel. In the cemetery were included first works of sacred art that made the cemetery not only a place for rest but also a cultural spot worth visiting. It contains unique and beautiful crosses handmade with specific designs, angels from stone and wood that have beautiful designs, and different figures that represent saints. In 1991 it was included in the register of the National Heritage of the Municipality of Nicaragua.
