Taronga Zoo participates in a program of elephant breeding inside the zoo, in order to preserve threatened species. One of those species are the Asian elephants that are endangered in the wild. These elephants are brought from Thailand. You can see here the first elephant born in Australia, in 2009, and also find out more interesting facts about elephants.
