Forte de São Pedro, Salvador

Forte de São Pedro, an old fortification used to defend Salvador from the southwest, dates back to the early 17th century. This stone structure with a polygonal base and bastions on the corners is registered as an Historic and Artistic Heritage Site. Its most recent restoration in the 1980s was part of a project to revitalize Salvador’s historic forts.
