Janco House, Haifa

The Janco-Dada Museum, which opened in 1983, features the artist’s work and explores the history of the Dada contemporary art movement which he helped to found. Marcel Janco, who was born to a Jewish family in Bucharest, gained fame as a painter and architect from the 1910s onwards. First based in Romania and Switzerland, he later fled the Nazis by moving to Palestine and helped found this museum which now bears his name. Winner of the Israel Prize in 1967, he was 88 years old when died in 1984.
