Mercat de la Barceloneta (La Barceloneta Market), Barcelona

Mercat de la Barceloneta (La Barceloneta Market), Barcelona

The Barceloneta Market, originally constructed in 1884, underwent a comprehensive renovation from 2005 to 2007, resulting in its popularity today. Visitors will find a wide variety of products, including fresh food, fruits, vegetables, meat (including cured meats), and an impressive selection of fish. In addition to the food stalls, there are various shops selling clothing, shoes, souvenirs, and more. Spanning an area of 2,670 square meters, the market also provides additional services such as a bakery, bars, seafood restaurants, and even a supermarket. Many stalls offer cooked and prepared food for your convenience.

Situated in the heart of Barcelona's fishermen's district, the market embraces its maritime heritage. While preserving the original metal structure of the building, the interior has been transformed into a functional and modern space, incorporating solar panels. Architect Josep Miàs was awarded the City of Barcelona award for his remarkable refurbishment project.
