Museum of Modern Art of Algiers, Algiers

Museum of Modern Art of Algiers, Algiers

Museum of Modern Art of Algiers opened in December 2007. The museum is housed in a Neo-Moorish structure built in 1909. Until it was transformed into a museum, the building served as a store that sold a wide range of artwork. When the museum replaced the store, the building underwent a restoration. All the interior walls were painted white, but the woodwork was left intact. Today, the Museum of Modern Art of Algiers showcases contemporary pieces by Algerian and international artists.
