Dating back to 1905, the Musée des Arts décoratifs, located in the Palais du Louvre's western wing, boasts an extensive collection of decorative art pieces that are regarded as some of the finest in the world. Renowned for its imaginative and innovative exhibitions, its four floors of galleries showcase a range of items, including furniture, ceramics, wallpaper, jewelry, glassware, and fashion, spanning from the Middle Ages to present day.

The fashion collection, with over 35,000 clothing and accessory items, chronicles the evolution of French textiles starting from the 18th century, while the jewelry collection is equally impressive, containing more than 5,000 pieces from ancient times to contemporary designs.

In addition to its permanent collection, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs also hosts temporary exhibitions, showcasing various decorative arts and design themes, and houses a library with over 150,000 volumes of rare and antique books on decorative arts and design, along with a design center offering courses, workshops, and conferences on design-related topics. Its on-site restaurant provides visitors with a quintessential French culinary experience, while offering a marvelous view of the Tuileries Garden.
