Situated on the corner of Central Park, The National Library of Guatemala, founded in 1879, is part of the department of Culture and Sports. This library of modern design was built on the site of the historic Palacio de los Capitanes Generales. The library hosts the national bibliographic legacy and also provides special services for children. It contains over 350,000 books including exclusive Guatemalan bibliographic materials, valuable resources for students, magazines, newspapers, books by national authors and many other interesting publications.
