Anne Frankplantsoen, Eindhoven

The Anne Frankplantsoen is a park named after Anne Frank.

The Anne Frank park is located in the center of Eindhoven. It is a park with exotic trees along the Dommel. The park is located next to the Lex and Edo Hornemannplantsoen, where the Gebroeders Hornemann monument is located. Like Anne Frank, the Hornemann brothers were Jewish victims of World War II.

The Anne Frank monument was designed by Theo van Brunschot in 1990. The monument is made of Vanga granite and bronze. It was commissioned by the municipality of Eindhoven and was unveiled on May 4, 1990. The memorial has a bronze plaque with the image of Anne Frank and bears the text: “Anne Frank Plantsoen in memory of the 304 Jewish men, women and children from Eindhoven who were persecuted and killed in the years 1940 - 1945.” According to Jewish custom, one can leave a stone in the bowl of the small column.

The Anne Frankplantsoen gained national fame when in 2003 the then commercial director of PSV, Fons Spooren, was arrested for lewd acts with underage boys. The criminal offenses had mainly taken place in the Anne Frankplantsoen.
