Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, Shanghai (must see)

The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is a large public aquatic facility featuring one of the world's most expansive underwater tunnels. It serves as a platform to showcase a diverse range of marine life from various corners of the globe and also aims to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of preserving the rich biodiversity found in our planet's oceans and seas.

This aquarium was made accessible to the public in the year 2002, covering a substantial area of 20,500 square meters. It houses an impressive collection of over 450 species originating from all five continents and the four major oceans, organized into themed sections. Some notable inhabitants of this facility include a 17-inch Oranda Goldfish, affectionately named after the legendary Bruce Lee.

Additionally, it houses aquatic creatures from China's Yangtze River such as the giant salamander and Chinese sturgeon, as well as unique species from the Amazon River and African rivers, South East Asia, deep-sea fish, sharks, jellyfish, sea dragons, and electric eels.

Visitors have the opportunity to traverse a remarkable hundred-meter tunnel enveloped by glass walls, allowing them to observe the vast array of exhibits within the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. This popular attraction draws in more than one million visitors annually, hailing from both China and around the globe.

Tip:
Weekends and holidays will be a bit crazy, so it is recommended that you visit during the working week.
