Situated near Columbus Square ("Plaza de Colón"), the Wax Museum in Madrid showcases an impressive collection of some 450 wax figures representing renowned personalities from both Spanish and international backgrounds, often presented within thematic scenes. For instance, visitors can witness Miguel de Cervantes, the esteemed author of "Don Quixote", diligently writing at his desk while windmills loom in the backdrop. Another scene portrays Goya's iconic painting, "The 3rd of May", depicting the French retaliation following the rebellions of May 2nd, 1808, in Madrid. The museum also features significant historical moments, such as Christopher Columbus's return from the Americas and depictions of navigators, scientists, and the Last Supper, along with a glimpse into the history of Spanish colonies. In addition, visitors can explore darker and more chilling displays, including figures like Freddy Krueger and scenes from the Spanish Inquisition.
