Cimitirul Eroilor (Heroes Cemetery), Sinaia

The Heroes Cemetery in Sinaia stands as a solemn tribute to the sacrifices made by soldiers during the tumultuous battles of World War I, particularly amidst the summer of 1916. Established in 1923 by the "Tombs of War Heroes" society, this cemetery is nestled near the Palace Hotel. It serves as the final resting place for both known and unknown Romanian soldiers, alongside their adversaries - German, Austrian, and Hungarian soldiers.

The cemetery has 124 graves dotting its landscape, including those of officers and soldiers who fought valiantly in locales like Predeal, Susai, Clăbucet, and Valea Cerbului. It serves as a poignant reminder of the price paid for freedom and peace. Additionally, etched in stone, is a tribute to the 365 American soldiers who met their fate in Romania during the Second World War.
