Saint-Martial Eglise, Avignon

Saint-Martial Church, presently a Protestant Church, is located at the corner of Rue des Lices and Republic Street. Originally it was designed to be a home for Queen Joanna of Cardinals. Built in 1346, by the order of Seneschal Hugh of Baux, in 1866 when Jean Henri Fabre was appointed curator, the Natural History Museum of Avignon was housed here until it moved again in 1881. This very old and beautiful edifice is hidden from the road on a court with leafy trees and a tower. Do not miss the chance to visit this historically significant mansion.
