Sound of Music World, Salzburg

This exhibition works hard to tell the story of the real Von Trapp family whose actual lives, as juxtaposed with one of greatest myths of movie-making history, were every bit as inspiring and exciting.

The small "museum" has a few curious artifacts, an interview video with one of the Von Trapp daughters (in which she humorously relates: "Don't they know geography? You cannot get to Switzerland from that place in the Alps!"), and some fun photos taken of the film cast in Salzburg during filming.

The tour is self-guided (or you could skip the audio), and each station has its own recorded content that one may listen to via the provided hand-held speaker. Worth an hour if you are a Sound of Music fan, and the souvenir shop is also worth the visit for purchasing some curiosities and gifts.
