Tobacco 001 - Cultural Centre, Museum and Galleries, Ljubljana

Check out Tobacco 001 – a nice new spot in town with an art gallery, museum collection, and even an apartment for artists in residence. It opened up to the public in 2011 and is the first historical building from the Tobacco Factory to get a makeover, becoming a hotspot for visual and cultural activities in a neighborhood that's getting trendier by the day.

The building has been around since 1885 and used to be a place for Tobačna Ljubljana workers to freshen up with showers and baths. Later on, in the 1970s, it became a canteen for the factory workers, then an archive. Now, after some renovations, it's been given a new lease on life as part of the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana.

Inside, you'll find all sorts of cool stuff related to tobacco and cigarettes – old photos, cigarette packs, porcelain pipes, cases, you name it. And right at the entrance, there's this massive cigarette-making machine that churned out one of the most famous smokes in Yugoslavia back in the day – Filter 57. A real blast from the past!

The Slovenian capital has no shortage of historical buildings.
