Houtzaagmolen De Ster, Utrecht

Houtzaagmolen De Ster is the center of the Molenerf de Ster, the only completely preserved sawmill yard in the Netherlands. Molenerf de Ster consists of the windmill with sawmill, the miller's house, two servants' houses and three wood-drying sheds. The top of the mill reaches up to 20 meters in the air. The blades are another 9 meters above that. The Star can be seen from afar.

In the water at the mill are trunks of all kinds of trees such as elm , plane trees , linden and oak between six months and two years to dissolve the salts and acids. Finally, the logs are dragged into the mill and sawn.

The sawmill originally dates from 1739. From the original mill, only the sawmill remained since 1911. The mill was rebuilt between 1996 and 1998. De Ster is located on the Leidsche Rijn in the Utrecht neighborhood of Lombok.

The Wood Saw Mill can be seen working every Saturday afternoon and is open to the public. It also serves as a music venue and meeting center, it is an official wedding location. There is a mill café with a terrace on the water. It is possible to take a tour of the mill, with an offer adapted for primary schools. The mill is also open during National Mill Day and Monument Day .
