Antigua is pretty. Colonial houses in different colors, churches, cobblestone streets and it’s worth to just walk a bit around without any map or plan in mind. Go where your feet guide you. Admire the beautiful buildings, enjoy the antique atmosphere and get lost.

Antigua’s city is built like a chess board and it’s easy to find yourself again after getting lost for a while. The central point is Parque Central. From there the streets are chronologically numbered named after compass directions:

In the northern part of the city, you can hike up the hill Cerro de la Cruz. Walk until the end of 1a Avenida Norte and follow the pedestrian walk up to the top.

The hill is called like this due to the cross which was placed there in 1930. From this lookout, you can see the whole city from above and if you go on a sunny day, you can also see the surrounding volcanoes.
