5 Places for Poke on Oahu

5 Places for Poke on Oahu, Honolulu, Hawaii (B)

Poke: must-have dish in Hawaii for tourists and locals alike. There are a ton of places on Oahu to try poke and I have yet to try all of them (but I am really eager to after creating this post). For those not familiar, it usually consists of raw tuna (ahi), soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, and other goodness but my personal favorite is the spicy ahi poke. Pretty much a poke with spicy mayo and spicy mayo is my favorite thing in the world. But that being said, there’s different types of pokes ranging from tuna or pipikaula (I’ll get into this later in the future) but for the most part, I only get the spicy mayo.

I have already touched on some the following poke places on the island in previous posts BUT here’s an aggregate post of the spicy ahi poke I’ve had on the island!

Edit: I guess I should have mentioned how to pronounce “poke” for those who don’t know. I pronounce it as po-kay not po-kee but I do hear people say po-kee.

Ono Seafood (blogged here on this post) is hands down my favorite on the island. There’s something about the teriyaki-ish sauce that’s mixed in. I honestly don’t know what it is exactly but it’s delicious. I usually get mine over white rice and a can of passion fruit juice. Parking isn’t the greatest here but grab your poke to go and take it to the nearest beach or park and enjoy! If you’re staying in Waikiki, this is just a short drive up Kapahulu from the beach but as I said, parking can be difficult so keep that in mind.
