A Stroll Around a Mexican Village: Tlaquepaque Self-Guided, Guadalajara, Mexico (B)

Tlaquepaque – a place you’ve probably never heard of. It’s a small village south of Guadalajara, Mexico. It forms part of the three “Tapatio” historical centers: Zapopan, Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque.

It is famous for its art and culture as you can find a lot of craft shops, art galleries, churches and typical restaurants. If you like admiring colonial architecture, wandering through alleyways and relax on plazas and gardens, you’re in the right place.

Today I’m going to guide you around the village, so you are able to make the most of your time here.

This is the main square of Tlaquepaque and one one of the most important meeting places of both locals and tourists. It was built in 1950 and accommodates four different small gardens (Spanish: jardín).

You will find a pretty gazebo in the center of the square and can spot two churches from here which we are going to visit next: Parroquia San Pedro Tlaquepaque and Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad.
