Best Views in Madrid, Madrid, Spain (B)

Despite my dislike of heights, one of my favourite ways to see a city is from above. From such great heights you can get a real appreciation for just how big a city is, how far it spreads out, and really just how beautiful and intricate it is. One of my goals for this year is to climb to as many viewpoints and vistas as possible. I’ve managed to see a few and here are my top four (so far).

Right in the centre of Gran Via, Madrid’s most famous and busiest streets is El Corte Ingles, a giant department store that has everything you could ever want (and more). But past all the merchandise, atop the eighth floor is the Gourmet Experience – a fancy food court with some of the most spectacular views of the city.

The Teleferico is definitely the coolest way to access Casa de Campo. Departing from Argüelles, the teleférico soars through the air for approximately 10 minutes over the barrio of Moncloa and past the Palacio Real.

Some of the best, most beautiful views I’ve seen from Madrid were from the courtyard of the Palacio Real itself. Perched atop a hill, the Palace overlook the Manzanares River and onto Casa de Campo.
