Cascais: Jewel at the Gate of the Mediterranean, Cascais, Portugal (B)

After my long days exploring in Lisbon, I thought a few quiet days in Cascais would be nice. But, I also wanted to really take in the area. I admit, that although the area was a refuge for the wealthy and famous of Europe, especially in the last century, I had never heard of it. Little did I know what I was missing!

There are many apartments and a few hotels in the Estoril and Cascais area. I considered an airbnb, but there weren’t many available for my dated. I ended up staying in a small apartment near Estoril that I booked through hotels.com. My goal for these days was an apartment around 30 euro a day that was clean and with a kitchen and wifi. Otherwise, I was flexible in my requirements.

The apartment was simple, but had everything I needed, including 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. The houses in Portugal are not build for the cold, which means that even with the gas heater, in February I was happy to have my merino long underwear for mornings and nights.
