
Exploring Potsdam by Bike, Potsdam, Germany (B)
The previous residential city of the Kingdom of Prussia is situated in Eastern Germany about 30 km away from Berlin which makes it a good day trip destination. The park and palace complex has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1990. As the park is huge and places within Potsdam are quite dispersed, the best way to explore Potsdam is by bike. Of course there are several routes you can follow, this suggestion is a tour of about 11 km
Sanssouci Palace – Chinese Tea House – New Palais – Orangery – Historic Mill – Brandenburger Tor – Nauener Tor – Dutch Quarter – Neue Fahrt
Right in the main station you are able to rent a bike at Pedales. Their rental center is located on S-Bahn Platform 6/7. It is open from 9:30 am to 5 pm on a daily basis (23 March to 31 October only). Renting a bike costs you 10.50 € or 8.50 € for students. From there, your tour towards Sanssouci Park can start. When leaving the station turn right, cross the bridge and follow the street “Breite Straße” until “Schopenhauerstraße” turn right again and you’ll arrive at Sanssouci Palace. ......
