Kungsholmen Is One of the Many Islands That Makes up the City of Stockholm.

Situated just west of downtown, Kungsholmen boasts a great central location on Lake Mälaren. It’s within walking distance of both Gamla Stan and Södermalm but has a much more relaxed vibe and laid-back atmosphere. Although Kungsholmen isn’t home to many landmarks and museums, it does have a few – and good ones too! Plus, it’s where you’ll find a great variety of lively bars, charming cafes, an awesome beach and park, and vibrant and delicious restaurants. There’s plenty to see and do in Kungsholmen if you know where to look. So let’s get to it. Here’s your guide to Kungsholmen, Stockholm.

Landmarks
Stadshuset (Stockholm City Hall)

Stadshuset is not only the most famous landmark on Kungsholmen, but it’s one of the most prominent buildings in the city. Stockholm City Hall is an impressive brick building that sits on the eastern shores of the island. Its 106-meter tall tower is topped with the famous three golden crowns, which can be seen from can be seen from many points throughout the city. It boasts a number of magnificent rooms and halls that are used throughout the year for banquets and events, including the Nobel Prize festivities.

Guided tours are offered daily, and it’s definitely something I’d recommend doing if you’re planning a visit to the city.
