Guide to Vilnius, Lithuania
For a very long time, Vilnius wasn’t on my bucket list. It’s not that Vilnius wasn’t on my radar, because it was. Thanks to a former co-worker, Vilnius and Lithuania were frequent topics of conversation. Despite this almost daily praise for the Baltic country, Vilnius just wasn’t one of my top must-see destinations.

At least it wasn’t until we moved abroad. 

Before Dave and I moved to Spain in 2015, we made a list of the places we wanted to see. Our lists consisted mostly of Europe’s top tourist destinations and attractions, and then Dave threw in the wildcard of Lithuania.

After that, it seemed like Lithuania was everywhere. Advertisements, articles, cheap flight teasers. For two years, it was like everywhere I looked there was Lithuania.

Slowly but surely, taking a trip to Lithuania made it’s way on to my to-do list. Over the last two years, it’s crept higher and higher until finally, I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to visit.

And this past February, I did!

Although February might not seem like the ideal time to visit Lithuania, for me, it was brilliant. The days were cold and the ground was covered in snow, but the sun was shining and the people were funny and friendly. Over the two and a half days I spent in the capital, I had a glorious time. From exploring the city to dining on delicious food to indulging in a local brew or two, I really enjoyed everything about Vilnius, and wish I’d added it to my bucket list sooner.
